Job Summary

URU The Right To Be, Inc. (URU), an expanding nonprofit education-through-the-arts production company in Hamden, CT, seeks qualified full-time, salaried Project Manager to handle a civic engagement national tour, fundraising and communications activities. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of community organizations, events management and the media. He/she will report directly to URU’s executive director. Prior experience in the nonprofit sector or the film industry is a plus. 

Responsibilities and Duties

 

  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Work with science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medical communities to develop a national civic engagement tour for a documentary film and accompanying workshops about diversity and inclusion in STEM fields
  • Identify, cultivate, coordinate, and execute solicitation of funding and sponsorship opportunities
  • Manage fundraising events and URU’s presence at community and other functions
  • Update websites
  • Broad understanding of media relations which would include responding to media inquiries and building URU’s “brand” via all appropriate communication channels
  • Perform typical administrative duties; e.g., make appointments, write and edit materials, book travel arrangements, etc.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director

 

Qualifications and Skills

 

  • Must be possess strong organizational skills
  • Ability to handle a high volume of work and function in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Grant writing
  • Established relationships in the STEM sector and within/among community organizations
  • Familiarity with media relations specific to issue areas
  • Budgeting
  • Familiarity with research, data analysis and presentations
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Ability to work effectively with external partners on joint projects
  • Experience managing fundraisers
  • Comfortable with a fast paced and flexible work environment
  • Ability to type a minimum of 70 wpm
  • Following skills not required, but a plus:
  • Knowledge of web-based communications strategies
  • Pre-to post-production filmmaking
  • Experience working with filmmakers
